Kia ora and welcome to Ōwairaka Kindergarten

Expansive Outdoor Space – Ōwairaka Kindergarten is set in a large leafy garden, down a long driveway back from the road. The kindergarten’s beautiful, large garden has mature trees that give lovely shade in summer. Tamariki love to explore our inviting and interactive outdoor play area. There are plenty of natural areas for children to learn, run, climb, explore, and develop their own interests and physical skills in.

Creative learning – Ōwairaka Kindergarten has a philosophy of play-based learning wherein teachers work alongside tamariki, helping them with their special interests and projects. Learning is facilitated through the choices tamariki make and what activities they choose to engage with. Tamariki express their creativity through art materials, imaginative play, and outdoor play.

Skills for life – Rich language, early literacy and mathematical concepts are incorporated into our day in our well-resourced kindergarten. Important life skills such as sharing, patience, self-confidence and resilience are supported and encouraged as children prepare to transition to school.

Strong Connections – Tamariki and whānau make wonderful connections to other families in their community through our kindergarten. These friendships make transitioning to school much easier for tamariki. Many of the children become students at Ōwairaka District School, right next door to the kindergarten, and move from kindergarten to school with their friends.

Qualified Teachers – The team at Ōwairaka Kindergarten is made up of qualified, registered teachers. We have a stable team and understand our community well from being part of it for so long.

Come in for a visit to see the incredible community we have at Ōwairaka Kindergarten! We are accepting enrolments for children aged from two to five years old and 20 hours of free ECE is offered for all our children.
