Kia ora and welcome to Onehunga Kindergarten

Onehunga Kindergarten has a very spacious outdoor playground with many areas to explore – a perfect environment for children to create, play and imagine.

Here at Onehunga Kindergarten we value parent involvement, and welcome families to share their knowledge so that together we can achieve the best learning outcomes possible for your children.

Onehunga Kindergarten’s qualified teachers are committed to research based practices and finding innovative ways to improve teaching and learning.

Our kindergarten has qualified and registered teachers who are dedicated to, and passionate about, early childhood education.  The staff is made up of a head teacher, three qualified teachers and support staff that includes a teacher aide, assistant teacher and office administrator.  We facilitate a child centred learning programme based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whãriki.  We are committed to the care and education of young children in Onehunga and Te Papapa and enjoy helping them find a sense of belonging in their own local community.

From the ERO Reports…

  • Parents are comfortable in the kindergarten, many staying to settle their children at the start of the day. They communicate frequently with teachers about their children's learning and development.
