Kia ora and welcome to Glen Eden Kindergarten

Unique and valued – At Glen Eden Kindergarten tamariki/children are at the centre of everything we do. We view them as capable, competent learners who arrive at our door with their own kete full of knowledge and experiences. We want all our tamariki to be “healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.”

Skilled teaching team – Our kindergarten has qualified and registered teachers with dedicated support staff. Our teachers are committed to and passionate about early childhood education.  Our quality learning programmes are based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.

Proud of who we are – Our teaching team reflect the cultural diversity of our vibrant community. We are of Māori, Samoan, Indian and European descent and make everyone who comes into our kindergarten feel welcome and valued. We celebrate our diversity with cultural events and activities. Our tamariki love to see themselves reflected in kindy life and feel proud of who they are.

Active learning – We are lucky to have an expansive outdoor environment, with a sandpit, a playground and plenty of room for active play. We also have a couple of pets our tamariki just love. We have a strong connection to our wider community with regular visits to the local library for story time sessions.

Health and wellbeing – We promote healthy eating and are proud to have a healthy heart award. Whānau supply tamariki with a lunchbox each day with support from staff around healthy choices.

Our offer – Glen Eden Kindergarten is licensed for up to 40 children per day. We enrol tamariki from 2 years of age and offer a morning session from 8.30am to 12.30pm to help with the transition to kindergarten. All children are eligible for 20hrs free education and care with us every week.

We welcome you to come a visit us, we’d love to show you around and talk about what we can offer you and your tamariki.

  • WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

All of our three daughters have attended Glen Eden Kindergarten and our relationship with the kindy started in 2014. The kindy is fantastic with awesome outdoor activities to compliment the indoor space. The sandpit is huge and well covered to provide shade. All our girls have loved playing in it, it's always the favourite. The swings, slide and climbing equipment is popular too. The gardens are well maintained and the children get involved with seasonal planting and using their harvested produce. The inside space is welcoming, bright and friendly with all the children's art on proud display. The staff at Glen Eden truly care about all the children and making their kindy days special. They are lovely and kind and greet the children with a smile each morning. Unfortunately my family's time at kindy is coming to an end and we will miss the place. We will always be grateful for how they have set our girls up for the school days.
