COVID-19 Updates and Resources

COVID-19 Updates and Resources

At Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki Makarau | Auckland Kindergarten Association, the wellbeing and safety of your tamariki and whānau is our first priority.

AKA continues to be informed by COVID-19 guidance from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, as well as monitoring international developments via the World Health Organisation.

Please continue to follow public health and safety measures that are known to reduce transmission of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of serious illness:

  • Stay up to date with vaccinations, including boosters. Researchshows they are the most effective way to prevent death. Everyone aged five and over can get a free COVID-19 vaccine now, and boosters are available for people aged 16 and over.
  • There is new guidance for household contacts, who don’t have to isolate but are recommended to test for five days with a rapid antigen test.
  • Wear a face mask as appropriate (for example, if you are a household contact).
  • Keep your child home if they are sick and test for COVID-19 if they have symptoms. Stay home if you are sick and test if you have COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Hygiene measures: hand-washing, cough or sneeze into your elbow.
  • Maintain good ventilation by opening windows.
  • Keep a safe distance from people you don’t know while out and about, and in crowded areas.

Your health and wellbeing

If you are unwell contact your GP or call Healthline on 0800 358 5453. COVID-19 tests and care are provided free to all those who need it, irrespective of citizenship, visa status, nationality or medical insurance coverage
