Welcome to Anchorage Park Kindergarten’s Community.

At Anchorage Park Kindergarten we recognise and value the learning journey of children and their whānau through a collaborative, inclusive and reflective approach. Partnerships are nurtured and respected, creating a sense of belonging and wellbeing.

The kaiako/teaching team at Anchorage Park Kindergarten are caring, passionate, qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic. We value, listen and respond to learning opportunities and possibilities for children within an enriched magical learning environment. Our quality learning programmes are based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki and Reggio Emilia practices and principles.

Our kaiako are skilled in implementing the Incredible Years Teacher Programme which supports young children with self-regulation and their social, emotional and academic competence. The passion and purposefulness of our teachers gives Anchorage Park tamariki a head start in their transition to school.

Teachers at Anchorage Park Kindergarten believe that:

  • The culture of our kindergarten recognises and values the journey of learning for children, teachers and adults through a collaborative, reflective approach.
  • Partnerships are nurtured and respected for children and adults to experience a sense of belonging and well-being within the kindergarten.
  • Children are capable and competent learners within our enriched learning environment.
  • Children’s learning opportunities and possibilities are enhanced with teachers recognising, valuing, listening and responding.
  • Children’s well-being and learning will be empowered and enriched with our transition to school programme.

We are proud to be awarded a Pā Harakeke Gold Award from the Heart Foundation. We were also finalists in the Prime Minister’s Education Excellence Award 2015 Focus Prize – Takatū Prize which celebrates a focus on collaboration that creates Learner-led Pathways from early childhood to schooling.

There is an important distinction between kindergarten and daycare or childcare. Auckland Kindergartens are community based and have a strong family focus. Parents and whanau are an integral part of what we do. Come and visit us, we’d love to show you all we have to offer!

  • WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

Our family has been a part of the Anchorage Park Kindy community for 8 years. Our 4 children have been educated there giving them the best possible start to their learning. The teachers care and value all children who attend, acknowledging individuality and achievements that make the children feel special. It is not a good bye, but a see you later, when our youngest 'graduates' next week.

Excellent kindergarten! My little one has been in this kindergarten for the last two years; she is leaving soon because she turns 5. The is a very good kindergarten, the teachers are highly qualified and very friendly. The children are from different cultures, they treat every family equally and respectfully. The place is really tidy and arranged beautifully, they utilized every corner to create play and study area with different themes for children. Thanks for the teacher’s efforts, there are so many activities around year, duathlon, hangi celebrations, disco night, “make your own lunch”, Christmas concert, my little one had so much fun in the kindergarten, enjoyed the time very much! I would definitely recommend this kindergarten to my friends.

  • WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

We love Anchorage Park Kindergarten. My eldest child recently graduated as he started school and my 4 year old has been attending for a year. Such a fantastic environment with motivated, caring and dedicated teachers. So much work goes into fundraising activities year round to raise money that is reinvested into the kindy, resources and outings offered to the kids. There are always new and interesting activities and resources out for the kids to use, play with and learn from and they are always focusing on themes or celebrations such as Matariki, Chinese New Year, Christmas etc. My children have been on some fantastic excursions, rock climbing, to Star Dome, Cornwall Park etc as well as participating in things like the Duathlon, make your own lunch etc. With my son recently starting school his teacher commented that she could tell he had come from Anchorage Park as he was so well prepared for school and that she hoped to send her children there in future. Cannot recommend this kindergarten highly enough.

My kids have loved their time at this Kindy. The space is well resourced, organised, clean and FUN! The teachers are dedicated and the best at what they do. Always looking for ways to extend the kids learning and celebrating each child for who they are. They've organised trips, family fun nights, theme days and brought in specialist art mentors during our time here. This Kindy has a good reputation for a reason, you won't regret sending your kids here!

The level of genuine care and thought they invest into each of the children here is truly outstanding. Play resources: the resources at APK are generously and thoughtfully stocked (+ stored!).  Cultural celebrations: cultural celebrations are taken seriously here, all of the language weeks, as well as celebrations such as Diwali, Matariki, Chinese New Year, even the King’s birthday (etc) are recognised, celebrated and appreciated here. Special experiences: such as visits to beaches, places like Kiwi Valley Farm, rock climbing, visits from librarians, police officers, bubble magicians. Storypark app used: regular updates are provided here re: your child’s learning/progress. The community: the community is colourful and truly supportive of all things to do with the children and centre. I have witnessed such magnificent growth in my child’s confidence, and independence since being enrolled here. Looking back, the difference is staggering. I could go on forever when it comes to singing the praises of Anchorage Park Kindergarten and their staff.

Best ECE /Kindergarten in New Zealand. Anchorage Park Kindergarten is the heart and soul of the community. The highly qualified teachers not only provide an amazing space and experience and love for my little ones, but genuinely care about our family as a whole. They catered to the special needs of my children, willing to adapt and try new things to help my children thrive. When new to the area they connected us with other families that have grown into lasting friendships for my children and us as parents. When my spouse went through a mental crisis I felt love and support for our family from them. They connected us to resources and support I couldn't have found on my own. They inquire about my older children, and remember their names despite years gone past since they were at kindy. They supported me in getting back into work. This wonderful team at Anchorage Park Kindergarten cultivates the space for my children to grow, and fosters a loving community so that I, as a parent, grow too.
