Kia ora and welcome to Farm Cove Kindergarten

Our relationships | Ngā hononga – At Farm Cove Kindergarten, our relationships with tamariki and partnerships with whānau form a strong foundation for learning based on trust, respect, kindness/atawhai, and inclusiveness. We embrace the uniqueness/mana of each tamariki and encourage tamariki to be involved in a wide range of fun, challenging, and enriching experiences. We value play in our environment, inspiring curiosity and encouraging meaningful interactions among peers and kaiako.

Our learning spaces - We pride ourselves on our fantastic outdoor play area that supports children’s ongoing physical development and natural curiosity. Our outdoor spaces are an extension of our indoor area and provides the most meaningful, intentional, and stimulating environment for each tamariki. Our beautiful large trees offer natural shade and can be climbed along with climbing frames. In addition, our swings, sandpit, bikes, water play area, and playground area provide children with engaging and challenging experiences that help them develop the essential dispositions that create a life-long love of learning.

Curriculum & Pedagogy | Mātauranga - We understand and implement the principles, strands, and learning outcomes of our Early Childhood curriculum document, Te Whāriki. Planning for learning and development of tamariki happens through kaiako noticing, recognising, and responding to the dispositions, strengths, and interests of ngā tamariki as well as whānau aspirations.

This documentation is collected into an individual portfolio and Storypark for each tamariki. We capture each child’s growth and progression through personalised stories and images. Our wonderful portfolios are a treasure for families to keep, and the online platform Storypark, which allows whānau to access children’s learning anytime, is perfect for sharing with family members who are near or far.

Farm Cove annual events - We hold various events throughout the year. These include Luna New Year, Farm Cove Kindergarten Olympics, Easter, Pacific Language Weeks, Diwali, Christmas and other events. Through these unique events, tamariki can not only have fun but also build their sense of belonging to the kindergarten. These events also encourage whānau participation, strengthening relationships among whānau, kindergarten, and tamariki.

Our team of passionate, committed, and dedicated Kaiako – We are a team of qualified, experienced, and passionate Kaiako who love working alongside tamariki above all else. We are friendly, open, fun, inspiring, caring, and have a great sense of humour. Through Our Code Our Standards, as Kaiako, we respect our trusted position and recognize our influence on our tamariki and the understanding of their world.
