Kia ora and welcome to Bayview Kindergarten

For more than 45 years, Bayview Kindergarten, tucked away in the heart of Bayview, has worked together with families/whānau to grow the next generation of tamariki.

It is our privilege to care for tamariki and keep them safe, loved and learning.

Our team – We have a stable team of 5 qualified and experienced teachers, some of whom speak Mandarin and Serbian. We work in partnership with whānau to support children in developing their independence, creativity, confidence, and perseverance.

Our great outdoors – Our children love exploring along with their peers in our great environment. Our spacious grassy area, large sandpit, well equipped playground and vegetable garden provide endless opportunities for adventuring and learning through play.

Specialist care – Our kaiako are skilled in implementing the Incredible Years Teacher Programme which supports young children with self-regulation and their social, emotional and academic competence.

Ready for school – Located next door to the excellent Bayview Primary School, we have a Transition to School programme that provides many opportunities for children to become familiar with the school grounds, programme and teachers. Some of the highlights of our transition programme are:

  • school buddy system
  • visit to school ground, library, class and assemblies
  • collaboration with school new entrant teacher.

Our friendly and welcoming teachers would love to show you around, come visit us!

  • FROM OUR ERO REPORT

A combination of provocations and open-ended resources invites children's investigation and exploration, and challenges their thinking. It shows respect for children as capable, self-directed learners.
