Kia ora and welcome to Pigeon Mountain Kindergarten
At Pigeon Mountain Kindergarten, we offer each child and their family a safe, nurturing, educational setting in an environment which values play as a foundation for learning.
We value the involvement of parents and whãnau within Pigeon Mountain Kindergarten and work to establish reciprocal relationships with parents to support and extend their children’s learning.
Here at Pigeon Mountain Kindergarten, we value our local community and utilise parks and other local features as an extension of our learning environment.
We are based at the bottom of Ōhuiarangi. In ancient times, Māori settlers arrived on the Tainui canoe and settled in the Howick / Pakuranga area. These settlers were known as the Ngati Tai people. Ōhuiarangi was established as a local Māori Pa (village). As a learning community, we see this place as a treasured and valued place for mana whenua and the people of Tāmaki-makau-rau (Auckland).
The kaiako/teaching team are qualified, passionate, enthusiastic and caring. Our learning programme provides stimulating and enriching learning opportunities and possibilities for children and is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whāriki.
