Here at Kauri Park Kindergarten, our tamariki have been busy growing “Mystery Seeds”!

Our Mystery Seeds Inquiry started with tamariki, whānau and kaiako collecting seeds from a variety of plants in our garden.

Knowing they were going to receive their seeds at home in the mail, an interest in learning home addresses and the New Zealand postal service developed.

At the start of a rāhui, kaiako posted out these Mystery Seeds to each child. Our parents took lots of photos and shared these on Storypark for our whole community to see.

The joy, enthusiasm and anticipation was outstanding! It was great to see all the posts from parents continue as more and more envelopes arrived in children’s letterboxes. Tamariki planted and nurtured their seeds and reported back on the identification process.

Thanks to our wonderfully supportive parents and their sharing on Storypark our Mystery Seeds Project enabled us all to stay connected to our kindergarten when we were at home during the levels.
