Our kindergarten is situated in a medium socio-economic community in St Johns, East Auckland. We are close to the Tamaki Campus of Auckland University. As of 2005, we have changed our kindergarten name from St Johns to Tamaki Kindergarten. This change realistically reflects the community and our children who come from various locations that embodies the Tamaki Basin natural surrounds.
 
We are within walking distance from bus stops, train station and shops.

We have two highly qualified, innovative, passionate and experienced teachers who are deeply committed to on-going professional development. Children and their families are warmly welcomed in our caring, sensitive and nurturing environment. Our children and teachers reflect a diverse range of cultures and ethnic groups.

Our programming is based on developing children’s abilities through identifying and building on children’s prior and current experiences. Our curriculum empowers children to learn and develop through child-initiated endeavours and scaffolding - that is guided adult support that enables holistic development.

We offer a rich, stimulating environment both indoors and out. Our children are physically, emotionally and socially challenged in spacious and established grounds.
