Pt England Kindergarten is situated within the grounds of Pt England Primary School. We look across the school fields and Pt England Reserve to the Tamaki Estuary, and enjoy the wildlife at our doorstep including pukekos, cows and horses. We are privileged to participate in some of the school activities and recent highlights have been a visit from the Police Helicopter and a Hot Air Balloon!
We are a culturally diverse kindergarten and our programme reflects different cultural aspects and values. We welcome all families and their children, involving them in kindergarten community events such as cultural days, shared lunches and excursions.
We believe that children learn through play and provide a wide variety of resources to support every area of their development. This includes allowing children access to ICT equipment such as laptops, a projector, digital cameras, and the photocopier.
We see ourselves as a “community of learners” in partnership with families and Whanau, focussing on the childrens ongoing well-being, learning and development. We nuture children to develop a belief in themselves, and support them to develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
We have received the NZ Heart Foundation Healthy Heart Award promoting healthy eating and living. We provide an emergent child-centred programme based on Te Whaariki, the NZ Early Childhood Curriculum. Each child has a portfolio that documents their learning and growth, reflecting their learning journey at Pt England Kindergarten.
