Don Buck Kindergarten is located in the grounds of Don Buck Primary School, Massey.

As a team of teachers, children, whanau and the wider community, we see ourselves as an inviting extension of the home where our tamariki, whanau and the community feel welcome, free to learn and have fun.

Where both Aotearoa’s bi cultural curriculum, and Don Buck’s multi cultural community is acknowledged, celebrated and reflected within daily learning, events and celebrations.  Where the tamariki’s prior learning within the whanau environment is valued and extended upon; where everyone feels they have a place and a voice.

We celebrate our cultural diversity and culturally rich environment where open communication is valued within our kindergarten community. Due to the wide multi cultural mix our vision aims to develop an environment of reciprocal relationships and communication between children/ teachers and whanau.

At Don Buck Kindergarten, children are encouraged to become independent free thinkers who will develop as competent, confident life long learners by questioning and exploring the world around them both within and beyond the kindergarten gates.

In all curriculum areas we encourage children to make their own choices, to investigate and experiment.   We provide opportunities for children to use their skills for creative self-expression and to present their ideas, beliefs and knowledge in our group environment.   Children are supported in taking risks, developing problem-solving skills and enquiring minds, and having fun.

At Don Buck Kindergarten children learn to assess their own learning, to respect and value each other, to promote fairness and equity and to gain social competence, self-esteem and above all - a sense of humour and fun!
