Organisational structure

The AKA is a government-funded organisation that operates as a charitable trust.

The AKA is governed by a board of eight members who are responsible for managing and directing the management of the business affairs of the Association.

The day-to-day management role is delegated to the General Manager and staff at AKA's Head Office.

The Association is made up of 107 kindergatens and four all day early learning centres.  Each kindergarten has a teaching team that is usually made up of one Head Teacher and two other full-time Teachers. Other support staff (such as Teacher Aides, Relievers, Administrators and Funding or Finance Support personnel) also assist the kindergartens where required.

To ensure that all parents/caregivers/whanau, staff and management are aware of the process to be followed, in the event of a person having a complaint/concern a copy of our Complaints Procedure is available below.
